Dear friends, family, supporters, and members of the 49th District,

The election did not end the way that I had hoped it would, but the voters have spoken and I deeply respect and cherish our democratic institutions and traditions. I called my opponent at approximately 11 p.m. on election night to concede the election and offer my support and good wishes in the general. I am extremely proud to be a member of the Republican Party, and I am happy to continue to contribute to its growth and prosperity as we march forward.

This was a long and difficult campaign for many reasons. However, I am extremely proud of the way that my team and I ran our campaign. I want to deeply thank those teammates and everyone who supported me in any form or fashion - those who walked with us, those who phone banked, the ladies who stuffed envelopes for hours on end, the guys who put up signs, the neighbors who invited me into their home to talk when I knocked on their door unannounced, anyone who called a friend and encouraged them to vote for me, those who did vote for me, and the rest of the endless list of contributions that I could go on and on with.

I want to also thank my family - my mom, dad, two sisters, and brother. Your support and love means the world to me and I could never have done any of this without you.

And most importantly thank you to all who participated in the primary election by voting. You deserve to be honored for exercising your constitutional right to pull a ballot, regardless of which party or candidate you supported.

I look forward to continuing to serve as Wayne Township Trustee. I will continue to contribute to our district and society in meaningful way through my office there, my capacity as Membership Chair of the DuPage Young Republicans, and my involvement as an Executive Board Member of DuPage Pads Young Professionals.

Thank you again to everyone who supported and encouraged me along the way. God bless you, your families, the United States, and the great state of Illinois! Now let us unite our party and look onward to November and some great general election results.

Respectfully yours,

Nic Zito
